Comon Invent is an expert company based in Delft, The Netherlands. The company was founded in 1998 as a joint venture between two companies. One active in biological soil remediation, the other in sensor technology. Its first common achievement was a compact online monitoring system for early warning of soil pollution. The basic idea was to detect volatile compounds evaporating from fluid spills entering the soil by buried sensors. To avoid false alerts by natural soil gases, the detector had to discriminate between natural gas and pollutants. The solution was to use two sensors that both responded differently to the same gas. The first eNose was born. This was the start of a revolutionary shift in air quality monitoring.
Research and development on various sensor types, different array sizes, electronics and data processing methods resulted in the state-of-the-art air quality monitoring solutions offered by Comon Invent today.
